The Light Within That Never Fades

“My faith encourages me so that no matter what lies ahead, I know that God is already there.”

Unspoken said it best. “One day we’re gonna earn a dollar that we’ll spend for the last time. One day we’re gonna close our eyes to the sky for the last time.” As scary as this thought is, it’s true. We all have been given a time for us to be born, achieve our dreams and live our lives to the fullest. We have also been given the time to grow old, get weaker, and to die. What is important, however, is how we choose to spend the time between birth and death.

We can spend every day setting goals and achieving them. We can spend each day studying more and more; all the time getting smarter and smarter. We can spend each day basking in the fact that we were fearfully and wonderfully made. A large part of my life has been spent making mistakes, getting things wrong again, and learning from these mistakes.

What would you do differently in your life if you were given a time machine? Would you go back and correct all the mistakes you’ve ever made? Or, would you go to the future to see what your life will be like 10, 20 years from now? You know what I’d do? Nothing. Now I know this seems silly, but I have come to accept that all the struggles I have gone through, all the horrible things and all the good things that I have experienced in life, have helped to mold me into the person I am today. If it weren’t for all the love, I would never know what it feels like to be happy. If it weren’t for the heartbreak, I wouldn’t have become stronger, and that, that is one thing I would never change.

A year ago, two years ago, my life was completely different. It is remarkable how much a year or two can change a person. Back then I was afraid, selfish and fragile, and this affected my ability to consistently make the right decisions and do the right things. I do not ever want to return to that place, and I am grateful to God, that by His grace, I never will. I am not here to tell you how to live your life; that’s up to you. What I am here to do is to tell you that no matter your past, no matter your present, there is a wonderful future ahead of you, and it’s all in your hands. Each and every decision we make in our daily, even secondly life, helps to dictate what will happen the moment after.

We were put here on earth for a reason. Every human being was created with a specific purpose, along with the talents needed to fulfill that purpose. If it is to sing, then sing like you’ve never sang before. Do not remain silent. If it is to teach, find all the willing students you can, and fill their minds with the knowledge you possess. Do not stand in a corner and watch. Take action. I challenge you to look inside yourself, really ask what it is that you are meant to do with your life, and do it. Were you put on earth to sit behind a desk and type? Were you put on earth to stand before a congregation and preach? You decide.

There is a light that shines from within. Use your light to guide others to the truth. Use your light to brighten the darkest of rooms. See the light beyond the darkness and push on through. The one thing, you must never do, is let that light fade. Because if it does, then you lose the essence of who you are. You lose the thing that makes you special.
